Funerals
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)
The death of a love one is a time of many different and conflicting emotions. The presence of the Church and Her ministers are needed at this most trying time.
The Mass of Christian Burial (the funeral rites) are a way for family and friends to commend a loved one to the mercy of Almighty God. Catholic funeral rites have three parts: prayer at the funeral home, the Mass and the burial. The clergy are also available to visit with the grieving loved ones. Please speak to the Pastor or one of the Dominican Friars to arrange for a loved one’s funeral and burial rites.
Family members should contact St. Catherine’s Director of Music, Daniel Sanez, that he may assist you in the preparation of the Funeral Mass. Daniel can be reached at dsanez.siena@gmail.com.
If you would like to be a member of the Parish Bereavement Committee, please contact the Pastor, Father Jordan Kelly, at frjjkelly@gmail.com or by phone at 212-988-6918.
